I only found out about that video after TheAmazingAtheist posted a scathing really crude and cruel video..

I don't really approve of the way he went about his video, but nevertheless, he did try to hit on some good points. He was unnecessarily cruel and demeaning.

Anyway, here's my rebuttal to HER video:

Yes. I do. Porn is not harmful and you’ve not brought up anything proving WHY it’s harmful, you’re just stating your opinion that you THINK it’s harmful.



Well, that’s what I was attempting to do in my video, but instead of talking about it, you started throwing insults--IMMEDIATELY. Not the best way to get people to understand your viewpoint.



Yes, but the point is that YOU are anti-porn, and there are enough people like you to give the feminist movement a bad name. And if you think it doesn’t give the movement a bad name, you must be living in a different reality than everyone else.



On the contrary, the people who made the porn have INVITED people to use them as masturbation accessories (I’ll use the slanderous derogatory term you like to call people who make porn), that’s why they made it. Porn isn’t made to look at as some sort of art film, it’s meant to get someone aroused. That’s why people make it.



If I buy something that was designed to make me aroused, yes, I’m entitled to use it in the way it was designed.



I’m entitled to jack of to whatever the hell I want to in the privacy of my own home, especially if what I’m jacking off to was DESIGNED to be jacked off too, you better believe it. This is the biggest point where you go too far. Maybe you should think about the ramifications to your bold and completely incorrect and baseless statements other than your own hatred towards men.



I thought you said that nobody’s trying to ban pornography. Or is what you just said an empty statement?



And so was what you said in the previous few sentences. Unbelievably fucked up. Beyond belief.



Well, maybe you shouldn’t make statements that are as outrageous as the KKK if you’re going to be so against the singleminded and tunnelvision methodology they approach things with.



I’ll agree with that. A lot of things need to change. Women still get underpaid in many situations where they’re working the exact same jobs as men. There definitely ARE things that need to change. But attacking porn is not a productive way of doing this. Ranking on men for masturbating to pictures of people they find attractive is NOT the way to do this. If you want to talk about the REAL social injustices, please do, but this bullshit of this anti-everything-it-is-to-be-a-guy thing is really lame.



Possibly—our culture is a male-centric one, and I wish it was more centered between the sexes. Personally I think MEN should be sexualized just as much as women. That, to me, should be the answer to this problem you seem to seem to be pushing forth, but your mind is closed to that and all you can see are the negative aspects to the sexualizing of people.



Well, honestly, you should have given some examples. *I* know what you’re talking about, but many other people may not.



Honestly, until you further explain yourself instead of throwing out childish insults, that is how I feel about you. TheAmazingAtheist is very cruel sometimes, and I personally think his video was designed to attempt to turn you into a puddle of tears, not exactly the way to go about getting an understanding, that’s for sure.



That is exactly the problem with your video as well. You are SO anti-porn that you can’t see the forest through the trees, and it’s absolutely mind-boggling to me.



And I hope that YOU get the gumption to actually discuss the things that you talk about or forever get assumed that you really ARE so against men and everything men stand for that you’ve become a very bitter individual hellbent on destroying the happiness of people who wish to take a different approach on life than you do.

I don't have time to watch the videos right now, but this statement stuck out to me. I COMPLETELY disagree with the notion that porn is not harmful. I base this solely from personal experience, but there is plenty of backing that supports what I have to say.

Porn is incredibly harmful. If you are in a relationship with someone, and you masturbate to airbrushed fantasy that the other person cannot ever be, you are creating a duller sense of satisfaction from what you get from your partner. They will never measure up to the fantasy that you've created. If I had more time tonight, I'd go into the other realms of the effects of porn, like the difference in the chemical release that you get from an "amazing fantasy" and what you get from a reality setting. I'd also like to mention the effects of the comparisons your subconscious mind makes between the two, long term addiction, and the effects of the instant gratification of porn vs. the two way street of intimacy.

The problem is in the context that she's speaking from. She's talking about a feminist point of view. She's saying it's bad because it's degrading to women. She's not talking about how it affects relationships. She's pretty much a misandristic (the opposite of misogynistic) individual. This is the problem I have with her. She hides her hatred towards men in a convenient package that she labels as "feminism".


Sure, it can be harmful if one is in a relationship--but as I said it *CAN* be harmful. There are some couples who watch porn together and learn things from what they see. Not everyone watches porn in the same ways. Porn doesn't always take away from a relationship. In many cases it DOES, but not always. Couples who are open with each other about all things sexual can integrate porn into their relationship without problem. Couples who keep their fantasies to themselves are going to be hurt by porn.

Also, when it comes to people who are single, porn is often the best thing they can get. I think it's less healthy to have a purely sexual relationship with someone (where they don't know how many other sex partners that person has) than to simply get off on porn. In that respect, porn is a healthy thing if it's the difference between having dangerous sex partners and staying at home.

Hey, I'm doing my part to balance the scales, believe me.

I would amend that statement to say that porn CAN be incredibly harmful. In the hands of (no pun intended) responsible adults, it is no more harmful than violent movies or video games.

I'd amend it too, except I said it exactly like that to make a point. Here is part of Kizzume's statement that I quoted, and then answered:
